Bangladesh: Fire at Dhaka Airport Cargo Terminal Forces Flight Delays, Diversions

A major fire broke out in the cargo bay of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka, Bangladesh, on Saturday, October 18, while a passenger plane was sitting on the tarmac nearby. The fire, which took 27 hours to extinguish, heavily damaged storage areas containing large quantities of raw materials, apparel, and product samples belonging to exporters. The cause of the destructive fire is currently under investigation.

Lebanon: Israel Carries Out Airstrikes Near Sidon

Israel carried out 2 airstrikes targeting alleged Hezbollah weapons warehouse locations near Sidon on Monday, February 19. Lebanese state-run National News Agency reported that "Israeli warplanes carried out strikes on the town of Ghaziyeh". The Israeli army said that the attack was in "response to to the explosion of an enemy drone, the wreckage of which was found near the Tiberias area this afternoon." TOKYO, Japan - A ground-breaking ceremony to launch the construction of a second passenger terminal at Tokyo's Haneda airport is held Dec. 12. The new east terminal, which is expected to cost 67 billion yen and to be completed in March 2004, will be used primarily by the All Nippon Airways group and Air Do, and the existing west terminal will be used by the Japan Airlines group and Japan Air System.
